SPOILER ALERT. SPOILER ALERT ! YE HATH BEEN WARNED !!!!!

now for the main Bit

Just finished reading the latest FMA manga a second time and I am ta gob smacked. Alphonse T_T

Yet I can't help but note a plot aspect ^w^

Every FMA-tard knows the law of equivalent exchange. To get one thing, one must sacrifice something of equal and opposite value, in Alphonse case, he had his soul bound to the armour through his brother sacrificing an arm and a leg, in the latest manga (Spoiler start here) Alphonse sacrifices his soul to bring back Ed's arm, enabling him to fight back. Yet Ed's arm is all that comes back. His leg is still auto mail. I theorize that this means Al's soul is still, at least partially bound to the suit. For evidence of this, see page 58 of manga 107 (if you couldn't guess that) where we see the phantom that is the door dissolve and sacrifice the arm he stole from Ed, yet the leg remains firmly on the phantom.

Issue in continuity ? Or next Plot partially spoiled ?

Dunno why it won't let me comment like before, but anyways, you're wrong in both. Edward lost his leg as toll for entering the gate the first time, when the transmutation to bring back his mother failed. He was then returned to the mortal realm with his left leg missing and his right arm intact. What is never shown, but frequently alluded to is the fact that Edward then dove into the Gate a second time to bring back Alphonse's soul, sacrificing his arm in the process. It is ony Ed's arm that was used as toll in Alphonse's soul binding, not his leg. It is highly unlikely that Ed will ever get that leg back. CorbeauKarasu 20:28, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
