I didn't like the trivia one bit. "It's possible this is from Star Wars", like Star Wars is the only media to ever use "66" in something to make it seem threatening or dark. It's a common thing in many works of media, not just Star Wars.Cornwiggle 14:33, May 26, 2010 (UTC)
Not to mention that came out with Revenge of the Sith.. a good number of years AFTER the manga chapters mentioning it were released. So, yeah.. that trivia should not be coming back. Ever. Nub888 04:17, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
I'm relatively sure Order 66 originated in the novels, which came out long, long before Revenge of the Sith, but if you guys think it's that shaky, then I suppose it needn't be mentioned. CorbeauKarasu 12:41, May 27, 2010 (UTC)
Should we move this page to "Presidential Decree Number 306?" Usually we give the manga priority, I'm just wondering why we haven't done so in this case. It seems unlikely, but I suppose "Executive Order" could be a mistranslation of "Presidential Decree" and vice-versa, however I find it hard to believe that Viz would translate a number incorrectly (though I wouldn't put it past them.) We give the official manga precedence when they get things right. If they've listed it as #306, then they've made a mistake, as the order's number is #3066. Also, Viz's use of the phrase "President" is an attempt to downplay the idea of a Fuhrer President, so we've balked at following them there. "Executive Order" gives off the same connotation without pandering to their softer language choice. Though I suppose "Executive Decree" could be given some thought, if it doesn't come off too clunky. As far as I'm concerned, Amestris has a Parlamentary government system (which means that they might even have a President, but such "Decree" wouldn't be up to him XD). Either way, I always think it's best to use "neutral" terminology when we are not sure about some things, cause, even though something might "sound better", most words in regards to State issues have a deeper meaning and say a lot more than we actually know about something. For example: here in Brazil, they have translated "State Alchemist" as "Federal Alchemist" (even the official translation!), but the thing is: Federal is a quality of an institution from a country with a Federalist type of State, which implies not only autonomy of each composing State in a Union, but also a "State's history and origin", how it was created and how it came to be. Such characteristics are not present in Amestris: that country is not a Federation. So, it's always best to avoid terms that are not generic, cause the possibility of making an error are huge.
