In the end of "FMA: Brotherhood", Scar says, that Rentanjutsu, as Scar's brother had thought, is based on force of Earth's magnetic field (in other words, it is based on energy of rotating of the Earth's Core). On the other side, the Amestris's alchemy works with tectonic disturbances and moving of Earth's crust.
