Satella LeCoulte (サテラ・レコルト, Satera Rekoruto), also known as Satera, lives in the mountains outside of Rush Valley with her husband, Ridel, and her father-in-law, Dominic. She is a very kind and loving woman, who - at the start of her introduction - is nine months pregnant.

Satella is first introduced by Paninya to Edward, Alphonse, and Winry in Chapter 18 when the trio tag along with Paninya to see the automail engineer Dominic. While Winry speaks with Dominic about Paninya's automail, the boys fuss over Satella's pregnancy and, after being allowed to feel her womb, marvel over the miracle of birth. That same day, however, Satella goes into labor just as a fierce thunderstorm erupts outside. Unable to travel safely through the deluge to the doctor's office, she remains in the house while Dominic sets out to fetch the obstetrician. Unfortunately, Dominic discovers that a bolt of lightning has destroyed the bridge to town, making their only path to civilization too far to bring a doctor in time to help. Faced with no other options, Winry decides to help deliver the baby herself while Dominic goes the long way around. Using her rudimentary yet impressive medical knowledge, Winry manages to guide Satella through the birth properly with Paninya's assistance, safely delivering a healthy baby boy.

TriviaEdit

  • In the 2003 anime series, the occurrence of Satella's labor is omitted and adapted so as to focus on Gracia Hughes' delivery of Elicia. Instead of Winry, Edward, Alphonse and Paninya delivering Elicia, it was Edward, Alphonse, and Nina Tucker. Additionally, this occurrence is set during the 2003 series' flashback, three years before its place in the manga.
